Ok this is not your usual woodturning remote demonstration. However, this will give you the basics of how to setup and utilize the ATEM Mini Video Switcher for your multi camera live demonstrations. So who wants to know about this stuff? Club AV committee volunteers and remote demonstrators or anybody else wanting to learn how to produce a live demonstration event.
We all know that once we get back to meeting in person at our club facilities that there is a need to be able to show the local demonstration to the in-person audience as well as a remote audience. The restriction of socializing because of the COVID pandemic has taught us that remote learning is here to stay. If you have members that can’t travel or are too far away to physically get to a in-person meeting, well just provide a Zoom link of the local demonstration.
For those that venture into providing remote demonstration, like I do, then you can find a simple solution to getting your live feed to your audience using the ATEM Mini. Perhaps you have a couple of old cameras (cell phone, camcorders or photo cameras) that you can utilize. Add in a few cables, some lights, power, internet access and a light weight computer and you are up and running.
In this ‘basics’ session I will show the basic functionality and how to setup the ATEM Mini for producing live video presentation or demonstration. We will look:
- camera requirements and styles
- audio requirement for microphones, speakers and PA systems
- cabling needs and limits
- video output to local monitors and to live virtual meeting platforms like Zoom
- ATEM Mini out of the box
- comparison of the ATEM Mini line up
- ATEM Mini setup
- keyboard operation of the ATEM
- software control of the ATEM
- a brief overview of some of the more powerful features of the ATEM
- a brief introduction of how to manage a one man show with ease using free software and a Streamdeck keyboard
- finally some comparison of other methods of video switching and why the ATEM Mini is the best solution
Future sessions will be planned to show some more of the advanced features of the ATEM Mini Video Switcher.
