The Robust 5/8″ Bowl Gouge is a premium unhandled woodturning gouge designed for bowl turning, hollowing, shaping, and finishing cuts. Made from hardened and nitrided M2 high-speed steel, it offers excellent edge retention, reduced sharpening frequency, and long tool life compared with standard HSS bowl gouges.
The parabolic flute provides a strong balance of chip clearance, tool strength, and sharpening versatility, making it suitable for fingernail, Ellsworth, Irish, conventional, and 40/40 bowl gouge grinds. This gouge ships sharp with a standard bowl gouge profile and double bevel, and the flat-milled top allows sharpening jigs to be used farther down the tool for extended service life.
